Engineering for Life Photography Competition

Engineering for Life is a Photography Competition, designed to celebrate the applications of engineering research in everyday life. (Run in 2010, by the University of Cardiff and Graphic Science Ltd, with support from EPSRC).

The competition invited images which showcased the way in which developments in engineering have impacted  quality of life: from ensuring health and safety, increasing the ease with which we enjoy our lifestyles or through enhancing  sports performance. We asked entrants to look within their own lives and find out what the applications of engineering research means to them.

Entries were invited across five categories:

  • Most Creative Interpretation
  • Best Technical Image
  • Best Manipulated Image
  • Best Pic Taken on a Mobile Phone
  • Under 16s

The closing date was 31st May 2010. We received almost 100 entries from across the UK. The quality of the entries received were excellent and the explanations given, illustrated that entrants had really engaged with the subject. The winners have now been announced. The winning images will be displayed at an exhibition at Cardiff City Stadium on 29th November 2010. Check back for details.
