Celebrating the
applications of engineering research in everyday life
TERMS AND
CONDITIONS
- Entrants must complete
an entry form
- Entrants must be
resident in the UK at the time of entering the competition.
- By entering the
competition, the entrant verifies that he/she has read the rules and
agrees to abide by them.
- Your entry must be
entirely your own original work, it must not defame anybody nor breach
any copyright.
- It is the
responsibility of the entrants to obtain permission for any
recognisable person (or their parent/guardian)
- Digital adjustments
are only acceptable if submitted under the category ‘Best
Manipulated Image’ (Although basic
darkroom-equivalent changes such as cropping, brightness, sharpening
or spot/blemish removal are allowed across all categories).
- Winners will be picked
by a panel of judges - the judges’ decision is final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
- The Engineering for
Life team reserves the right to change or cancel this competition at
any time.
- Your personal contact
information will be held by the Engineering for Life team. Engineering
for Life will not pass your details on to any other third party.
- If a winning entrant
is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to
do so, Engineering for Life reserves the right to either offer the
prize to the next best entry or to withhold the prize.
- All cash prizes
awarded to Under 16 year olds will be presented to a parent or
guardian.
- Entrants must ensure
that any persons (or their parents/guardians if under 16) featured in
the image have agreed to be entered into the competition and to be
published online and in all media as required.
- If successful, the
winning entrants agree to provide Engineering for Life with the
original file for the image and agree that it may be printed,
published online and used in a public exhibition of winning entries.
We respect the copyright ownership of all submitted images, which
continues to belong to the photographer. We will delete non-winning
entries after the competition has ended.
- Images submitted to
the competition will be used
only in association with the competition itself. This includes display
in an exhibition and any materials associated with promotion of the
exhibition (such as invites to the exhibition – or a handbook to
accompany the exhibition).
- Images are likely
to be incorporated into a permanent project page on the company
website(s), to celebrate and reference the success of the exhibition.
Any images used would be presented as ‘competition winners’ (and
credited to the photographer) and would not be used on other pages of
the website that do not reference the competition itself.

RULES
OF ENTRY
- Download and complete
an entry form
- Submit your image by
email, along with a completed entry form, to info@graphicscience.co.uk,
(with the subject title “Engineering for Life Photo Comp”).
- Alternatively you can
post images (along with a completed entry form) to: Engineering for
Life Photo Comp, The Sheilings, Felton Common, North Somerset, BS40
9YP.
- We regret we will be
unable to return your images to you.
- By submitting your
images, you agree that Engineering for Life and affiliated
organisations may use your images for the purposes of
celebrating/exhibiting the competition. We respect the copyright
ownership of all submitted images, which continues to belong to the
photographer. We will delete non-winning entries after the competition
has ended.
