ZeroCarbonCity
In 2005, we were asked to devise wraparound activities to support the British Council’s International Climate Change campaign ZeroCarbonCity.
Working with staff from the Science Communication Unit (SCU) at UWE, we ran workshops, demonstrations, quizzes and cafe scientifiques for schools and family groups, through to prospective science communicators.
The events took place at various centres across Russia, including Samara, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow and St Petersburg. We also ran related events in Latvia and the Czech Republic.
ZeroCarbonCity was a global campaign to raise awareness about climate change and the energy challenges facing the world’s cities. An increasing majority of the world’s population are living in cities. A significant part of climate change is affected by the actions of people in these cities, which is why the British Council chose to design a campaign that concentrates on the relationship between climate change and cities.
