scoping a
national festival of science drama |

In 2001, we worked with Frank Burnet of the University of the West of England, Bristol, to scope a National Festival of Science Drama for the Wellcome Trust. The Wellcome Trust were interested to discover the feasability of a festival mounted during Science Year and aimed at 10-16 year olds. The festival was to consist of three components; energising workshops for teachers and pupils, regional festivals and a final national festival. We conducted a detailed consultation with schools from each of the seven cities with Wellcome Trust science centres. A total of 49 teachers from 41 schools were interviewed. We used our findings to advise the Trust on both the festival's viability and optimum modes of delivery.
