training the training group

The training group is a partnership between Graphic Science and science made simple offering a delivery team with over 30 years professional experience within the field of science communication. We offer training and professional development courses for scientists, engineers, researchers, STEM practitioners and science communicators.  

Recent clients include: RCUK (Research Councils UK), EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), STFC (Science and Technology Facilities Council), MRC (Medical Research Council), IoP (Institute of Physics), The Wellcome Trust and the Royal Academy of Engineering. We are also contracted by the new Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Bath, to deliver public engagement training for five cohorts of PhD students.

Core topics on the course include:

  • An overview of science communication

  • Practical activities to improve your communication skills

  • Planning and evaluating an event - considering the audience's needs

  • Knowing your audience - who they are and where to find them

  • Next steps - finding funding, information and existing initiatives
