Ben has been involved with Science Communication and Education for over fifteen years and is Managing Director of Graphic Science Ltd, one of the most innovative and influential consultancies in the field.
He has worked extensively in schools researching, devising and delivering
drama based projects on topics as diverse as Robotics, Bio-ethics, Climate
Change and currently, Engineering. His
portfolio also includes media campaign work funded by the
OSI and the European Union, bespoke evaluation and scoping research for
the Wellcome Trust, Cheltenham Festivals Ltd and the Royal Society and a
variety of science communication projects delivered throughout the
Ben has considerable experience in the development and delivery of communication training programmes. As a founding member and director of the expert consortium 'the Training Group' he has been responsible for co-developing and delivering public engagement training for clients including: EPSRC, MRC, STFC, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Physics, RCUK's Researchers in Residence scheme and five cohorts of PhD students for the Bath Doctoral Training Centre.
Ben is often called upon to provide facilitation for events, meetings and stakeholder discussions on behalf of external clients, including: the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement, the Beacons for Public Engagement, the Department of Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS) and the British Council.
Ben is an LEA appointed governor at a North Somerset Primary School and Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Science Education, Sheffield Hallam University; the University of the West of England, Bristol; and the Department of Science Studies at University College, London.
