Louise is the Training and Project Development Consultant at Graphic Science. She is a recent addition to the company but has worked with members of the Graphic Science team for a number of years, developing and delivering public engagement training as part of ‘the Training Group’. 

Having worked in the PE community for 11 years, Louise was called in to work with Graphic Science as a consultant during the analysis stage of the EPSRC PPE evaluation. Before taking on her current role, Louise was Head of Skills Development at the UK Association of Science and Discovery Centres (formerly Ecsite-uk).

She has developed effective, up-to-date communication skills training packages for a wide range of organisations (including EPSRC, STFC, Wellcome Trust, Institute of Physics (IoP), Royal Academy of Engineering, Science Learning Centre North West, Ecsite-uk members, Careers Wales, Girlguiding UK, Techniquest, The BA and universities). She was also responsible for the development and management of projects including the national Go For It! with sciZmic science and space projects as well as the coordination of large-scale events (e.g. NSEW launch Wales).  Louise was also the senior supplier of programming for Inside DNA – a genomic revolution travelling exhibition (developed by At-Bristol on behalf of Ecsite-uk with funding from the Wellcome Trust and support from the Sanger Institute).

Louise was also involved in the Science and Discovery Centre Impact study which was funded by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS). Louise provided input into the design and language of an online survey, paying close attention to terminology and phrasing research questions.

Louise has also worked with numerous organisations and industrial partners to deliver PE activities while working as the British Association Regional Officer for Wales e.g. The Met Office, Dow Corning Ltd, Western Power Distribution, S4C and the Welsh Development Agency.

Louise has reviewed for a number of PE grant schemes including: EPSRC, The Royal Academy of Engineering, STFC, the Institute of Physics, the Wellcome Trust and the Royal Society of Chemistry. She is also a Chartered Chemist and was previously a member on the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Committee for the Promotion of Chemistry to the Public. She has a BSc, MPhil (industry funded) and PhD (EU funded) in Chemistry, each from the University of Cardiff. She also has a diploma in Science Communication from the Birkbeck College in London.
