Our Green Skills
Our Green Skills is a programme of in-school support, events and training aiming to increase awareness of green skills and careers amongst young people, teachers, and the wider STEM community in South West England.
Our Green Skills brings together people in education, particularly those with an interest in careers and in STEM, and people from academia and industry with skills and experience to share in the area of green skills and careers.
We invite any individual or organisation with interests aligned to the Our Green Skills initiative to join us and help us bring green skills and careers to life for young people. As part of the Our Green Skills programme of activity, the Graphic Science team support or deliver the following activities:



CLIMATE AMBASSADORS
Climate Ambassadors is a UK-wide initiative funded by the Department for Education, with the aim of helping all education settings make and implement a Climate Action Plan. Climate Ambassador’s are volunteers who are passionate about sustainability, and who can help schools develop their Climate Action Plans, as well as support other activities with links to green careers. The South West Regional Climate Hub is based at UWE, Bristol.
THE SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT CHALLENGE
The Sustainable Transport Challenge, created by Graphic Science, is a one of a kind challenge for schools in the South West of England. For this adventurous challenge students in KS2 or KS3 work in teams to create an eco-friendly journey, considering their environment and any climate challenges they may face along the way.
The Sustainable Transport Challenge can be delivered in schools as a one-off activity day or as part of an Eco-Club. All resources are free to use.
BRIDGWATER’S GREEN FUTURE
Working with a small group of schools in Somerset, the Graphic Science team delivered a series of themed activity days:
- Climate Education & Green Careers
- Adaptation & Resilience
- Biodiversity
- Decarbonisation
- Climate Action
Bridgwater was selected as an area of focus as it is the site of the Gravity Smart Campus development, which has a focus on green technologies, and incorporates the site of the new Agratas automotive battery gigafactory.
