Development of an Attributes Framework for PE
We worked closely with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) to develop an attributes framework for public engagement.

The framework aims to emphasise that public engagement requires real skills, draws on a range of personal attributes and benefits significantly from self-reflection. The framework is organised into three interlocking domains: communication, empathy and reflection. Under each of these domains we have identified attributes as core and advanced.
The framework was designed for use by staff and students in UK universities and aims to inform the provision of training and development for public engagement. We developed the framework by drawing on the learning gained through the Science for All research report, along with an in-depth look at existing competency frameworks and in-depth consultation with numerous stakeholders in the field.
