Public Engagement Training in Bangladesh
Graphic Science were asked to undertake public engagement training for ICCDR,B in Bangladesh as part of a European Commission funded project in collaboration with University College London which is looking at ways to increase the engagement between researchers and policy-makers.
ICCDR,B is a large health-care NGO best known in Dhaka for running the Cholera Hospital. Historically, its make focus has been on prevention and treatment of diarrhoeal diseases. However, increasing affluence in some parts of the population now means that non-communicable diseases such as diabetes are becoming more commonplace.
Members of the Graphic Science team travelled to Dhaka to work with ICCDR,B and help them think about new ways to engage with different communities and work with them to develop a shared understanding of risk behaviours around communicable and non-communicable diseases and how to prevent them.
