Green Future
Green Future is a programme that supports the development of young people in Key Stage 2 and/or 3. Young people work independently and in teams over an extended period (approx. 18 months) to explore green issues, focusing on a green infrastructure development in their area.
Termly project sessions help them develop the green skills of:
- research
- data analysis
- using evidence to reach conclusions
- effective communication
Green Future Educational Impacts
- Enabling young people to identify, develop and celebrate their green skills.
- Developing key skills that support curriculum learning.
- Raising awareness of local green career opportunities.
- Supporting teachers to incorporate examples of diverse career opportunities into their teaching.
- Improving links between curriculum, careers and sustainability education
Green Future Volunteer & Employer Impacts
- Building STEM Ambassadors’ capacity to support young people and help them develop their green skills.
- Empowering STEM Ambassadors to communicate effectively about how green skills are relevant to jobs now and in the future.
- Supporting Developers to demonstrate local community engagement and define success in terms that are social and environmental, as well as financial.

Bridgwater’s Green Future – Partners
Bridgwater has been selected as the location for the first Green Future project as it is the site of the Gravity Smart Campus development, which has a focus on green technologies, and incorporates the site of the new Agratas automotive battery gigafactory.
