Making Every Teacher a Careers Teacher
Teachers pass on messages about career paths through the relationships they build and the curriculum they teach, but they are not always aware of what the labour market is looking for, the green skills that employers value, or the range of pathways available.
Graphic Science are working with the Careers Hub at the West of England Combined Authority to deliver the Teacher Encounters project in 2023/24.
In the West of England the project involves teachers and employers taking part in an exchange visits to experience each others workplaces, with a strong emphasis on green skills for sustainability.
Teacher Encounters is funded across England by the Careers and Enterprise Company. Click here to watch their introductory video and then find out more about what’s happening in 2024 in the West of England by watching the video recording of our launch event:
The emphasis is on ensuring that participation delivers as CPD for teachers, influencing classroom practice and embedding the employer relationship into the curriculum. Participation should provide both employers and classroom teachers with the experience and confidence necessary to have relevant and contextual careers conversations with young people, and demonstrate the imperative need for greater diversity in career aspirations.
